Set in England during the late 19th century, the play follows the lives of two young men, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, who adopt fictional identities to escape social obligations. Interwoven in their storylines are two romance-stricken ladies, each possessing an unusual allegiance to the manliness of the name Ernest. Chaos ensues when both men find themselves face-to-face and have to explain who they really are.

The Western Door Playhouse is the resident theater group at the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center located at 1201 Pine at Portage Niagara Falls NY.

Performances in the Woodbox Theater draw audiences and actors together to create an intimate theatrical experience. The former library at the old Niagara Falls High School boasts a warm and inviting wood interior and comfortable seating. Located on the 3rd floor of the NACC (an elevator is available).
