About Lend Me A Soprano by Ken Ludwig
Though the original story was set in the 1930s, this production has been reimagined in the vibrant world of the 1980s. It's 1984, and the clever and combustible Lucille Wiley, Manager of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company, is ready to welcome world-class soprano Elena Firenzi for her one-night-only starring role in Carmen. Alas, Elena arrives late, and her impassioned husband, Pasquale, has a fit of jealousy. It remains to be seen whether Mrs. Wiley’s mousy but determined assistant, Jo, can save the day.
Based on Ken Ludwig’s Tony Award-winning Lend Me A Tenor, this madcap screwball comedy features women in the leading roles. It is guaranteed to leave audiences teary-eyed with laughter.
This show may not be suitable for young audience members.
Please be aware that there are references to the following: prescription drug overdose (Elena), disrobing (Leo removes top while wearing an open robe), comic violence, and alluded sexual content (Leo/Jo, Jerry/Jo, Elena/Jerry, and Elena/Leo).
