10 Minute Play Festival Creative

Amber Schmidt
Amber is the current Secretary and Executive Stage Manager and has been with the SCDW for 21 years both onstage and backstage. Her favorites include Postmortem, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nevermore, and most recently, The Ripple Effect. She would like to thank the cast and crew, especially Lourdesa, for their talents and patience as they navigated this new format.

Lourdesa Hunt
Lourdesa made her SCDW debut as the ‘Bakers Wife’ in Into the Woods. She received the TANYS Award for Excellence in Acting for her performance as ‘Elizabeth’ in 2021 Young Frankenstein, the Musical, and portrayed Widow Corney in Oliver!. A lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley and graduate of SUNY New Paltz, Lourdesa has performed in numerous productions around the area including Little Shop Of Horrors, Sweeney Todd, Fiddler on the Roof and Jesus Christ Superstar. Some of her favorite roles include Hope Cladwell in Urinetown, Irene Roth in Crazy For You, and Anne Egerman A Little Night Music. In addition to local productions, she has studied and performed abroad with Centro Studi Lirica Operatic troupe in Novafeltria, Italy, under the direction of Joan Patenaude-Yarnell. Lourdesa would like to thank her husband, Dennis, for being her rock and for all his love and support during the show run (and always).

Harold Tighe
Harold has been part of the workshop for twenty plus years. In that time he's done just about everything from sweeping the stage to building the sets to directing to taking out the garbage, and much more. Currently serving as the Workshop's treasurer, some of his favorite roles include both Tevye and Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof, Bap- tiste in The Taming of the Shrew, Inspector Herne in Witness for the Prosecution (Forestburgh Playhouse), Senator Wingwoh in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (Forestburgh Playhouse, op- posite Loretta Swit), and Selsdon in Noises Off. Many thanks to the cast and crew of Wizard of Oz for letting him be part of this delightful production. All my love to Lillian and her tolerance of all my nonsense for all these years.

Anna Puleo
Anna is a talented artist who only recently discovered her passion for painting and theater in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Anna's personal philosophy is to try something new every few years. This year's challenge is directing a play. In 2023 Anna along with the construction crew won a TANYS Award: Excellence in set creation for a "A Lovely Day to Kill Your Spouse". Her favorite role was playing Chef Louie in The Little Mermaid. Anna is grateful for her cooperative and spirited cast and the well-organized production team for 10 Minute Plays.

Grace Summa
Grace's journey in theatre began at the age of 12, and since 2016, she has been a big part of the Workshop. With two decades of dedicated involvement, she has amassed a wealth of experience across various theatrical roles. Her extensive repertoire includes stage crew, set building, painting, assistant stage managing, stage managing, tech crew, light design, sound design, and technical direction. In and beyond theatre, her current passion is Photography.

Board member, Prop Mistress and grandmother, Jenny performed in the 2019 One Acts, by filling in parts in Linger a While and the sweeper in Betcha. Technically she has been suckered onto the stage by her grandson Cole, and friend Heather! She is loved dearly and we couldn't do what we do without her! She is a retired teacher from Fallsburg CSD, and spends her additional free time traveling with her amazing husband Lou.

Ava Gwiozdowski
Ava is a passionate artist who has been playing the cello since she was 9 years old and recently got into theatre. Her theatre debut was in her school musical in 6th grade. She has been in Annie Jr. and Matilda Jr. at her school and Oliver and The Wizard of Oz at the SCDW. Ava also participated in the Haunted Theatre. Ava participated in All County in 2023 and has already been selected for it again this school coming school year. Ava participated in NYSSMA in 2023 and 2024 with her instrument where she almost got a perfect score on her solo! Ava is super excited to be in the 10 Minute Play Festival and Haunted Theatre this coming October.

Although Jean was recently on stage as The Wicked Witch/Miss Gulch in our recent production, she has been active behind the scenes in many SCDW shows. Jean enjoys helping Heather with costumes, Jenny with props , Eileen with organizing our costume collection, and Harold with set painting and decoration. She is thankful for the new friends she has made at SCDW and invites those of you interested in any of these activities to join the fun!

Arianna Rose is an award-winning playwright, musical theatre writer, and born-and-bred New Yorker. Laura Gaspari
Laura Gaspari has been involved in NYC Theater for 25+ years. She is a resident writer for the Cosmic Orchid Theater in NYC. Her play, Donuts, won The Lakeshore Players Play Competition, selected for The International Human Rights Arts Play Festival (NY), & a finalist in the Soop to Nuts festival (NY). Her play, Ciao for Now, was a finalist in the Soop to Nuts festival (NY) and was published by Scripts for Stage UK. Her play, The 12th Floor, was produced by Cosmic Orchid Theater (NY). She has performed off-Broadway and sung the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden. Training: T. Schreiber Studio NYC, Shonda Rhimes Masterclass. Equity, SAG/AFTRA member. Linda Cooke
Linda Cooke’s job directing high school speech and drama required her to read and evaluate dozens of performance pieces every year. Eventually it occurred to her to write a few of her own. Ten years later, she has had five works accepted for publication. An additional seven of her works have been produced in four states. “Nothing in my life has matched the thrill of seeing my work brought to life by youth and adult performers,” she says. In addition to writing scripts, Linda is working on a series of novels about an American woman who becomes entangled in the Colombian drug trade of the 1980s. Linda’s two day jobs are teaching Adult ESL (English as a Second Language) and college writing coach. When not teaching or writing, Linda may be found working on obedience exercises with her two beagles. They hope to have her trained very soon.

Joyce Newman Scott
Joyce started college in her fifties after a successful career as an actor and a flight attendant. She studied Screenwriting at the University of Miami and Creative Writing at Florida International University. Her short stories have appeared in multiple anthologies. Her play, The Happy Place was a top 15 winner Raven Short Play Festival, CA. The Menopausal Freshman monologue was chosen by the Burning Man Festival in the U.K. and published by Smith and Kraus in The Best Women’s Monologues of 2021. She is a proud member of S.A.G./A.F.T.R.A. and D.G.

Les Abromovitz
Les Abromovitz is a member of the Dramatists Guild. His five-minute Covid-19 play was included in a book of short plays that was published by Smith & Kraus in July, 2021. Ten of his one-act and 10-minute comedies have been selected for production or readings in 2024. Les, an attorney, has been the author, co-author, technical editor, and ghostwriter of numerous business books that were published by John Wiley & Sons, McGraw-Hill, Dearborn Trade, ALM, and other major publishers.

Dawn Branch
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Dawn Branch (she/her) earned a BA in theater from Hendrix College and an MFA in film production from Boston University before moving to Los Angeles. She has been working in the film industry for over a decade. In the last few years Dawn has taken up writing again and is honored that her work has been shown by theater companies across the world through theater festivals, licensed readings and the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Tom Moran’s plays have been produced in 21 states and seven foreign countries, and his short plays “Duo” and “Breakout” have been published by Smith & Kraus.
