A note from the Director:

Stage Door Productions was established in 1999, with a mission statement of being ‘Theater for All.’  However over the years, SDP fell into a Family Production Playhouse, offering some wonderful family shows, and other materials that kept an audience happy and involved.  However a few years ago, SDP board of directors sat around a table and reminded themselves that Theater for All, also means theater that makes some uncomfortable and others wanting to see more.

So around 2022 SDP produced Spring Awakening, maybe the first and certainly the most irreverent production to date - breaking the ice for some adult or mature content, once a year, followed by Rocky Horror Picture Show, and in 2024 Laughter on the 23rd Floor, described as a extremely funny play, with more F-Bombs in it then found in a Teamster Meeting House.

Hand to God takes SDP one step further down the path of trying to offer at least one show per year that might get someone to stand up in the middle of the show and walkout.  Of course we really don't want you to leave, and for certain we don't want to offend - but we do want to offer Theater for All, and we do want to challenge our audience and actors to see uncomfortable works of art in addition to the normal Family favorites.

In the future, we are looking .at productions like: The Full Monty; Lemons, Lemons, Lemons; Home, I am Darling; and the Vagina Monologues.  Anyone in our audience ready to take on the challenge - and put these adult shows to the test?

Okay - so you have been warned.  The play, Hand to God, is an awarded winning ADULT comedy we hope you will both enjoy and be embarrassed enough not to talk about it at church next Sunday - unless it is to recommend it.
