Details on the RVSB 2nd Annual Middle School Initiative:

The Rogue Valley Symphony's 2nd Annual Middle School Initiative celebrates the exceptional talent of young musicians from across the region. 

These students have proven themselves as stars in their band rooms, consistently rising to the occasion and mastering music that challenges their peers. Normally playing pieces that are a step ahead of their classmates, these gifted musicians are now taking on something even more ambitious—works that most middle school students could only dream of tackling. 

Through this initiative, students are given the opportunity to receive three specialized coaching sessions with members of the RVSB. These coachings not only focus on advanced techniques and musical insights but also provide a unique glimpse into the world of professional musicianship. In addition, students have the chance to observe rehearsals, experience the inner workings of a professional ensemble, and play in a setting where every musician knows their part. 

This enriching experience would not be possible without the generous support of the RVSB ensemble members and funding from the Carpenter Foundation. Through this initiative, we are fostering the next generation of musicians and inspiring them to reach new heights.

The Rogue Valley Symphonic Band is a select group of some of the best musicians from the Rogue River Valley area of Southern Oregon and Northern California. It is an all-volunteer community band striving to present excellent performances of some of the finest literature for concert band/wind ensembles available.

Concerts are often scheduled at area schools, usually in conjunction with the school's band(s) to demonstrate to the students that there is indeed musical "life" after high school/college. Visit often to keep current with our concert schedule.

The Mission Statement of the RVSB is to foster, encourage, and develop public awareness and appreciation of the ongoing history, tradition, and literature of the concert band. The RVSB will strive to offer band members the opportunity for self-expression through musical experiences with musicians of like interest and proficiency. Toward these ends, the RVSB will seek to explore all quality literature written for concert bands, including standard band repertoire, new compositions, and transcriptions, as well as provide regular and exemplary performances of that literature for the community and schools.
