About I Love You Because
I Love You Because is an Off-Broadway gem of a musical, celebrating its 20th Anniversary with an all-new gay retelling. Hailed as "Terrific, refreshing fun," by The New York Times, this romantic comedy tells the story of Austin Bennet, a greeting card writer who walks in on his boyfriend with another man.
He is sent back out into the New York City dating scene—the bars, coffee shops, and streets of the East Village—with only his misguided brother, Jeff, to steer him. It’s there that he meets Marty, a flaky photographer with dating troubles of his own—and his actuarial best friend, Diana, who is trying to calculate her future.
In order to move on with their lives, these four Manhattanites must put their pasts behind them and learn that true happiness isn’t found by loving someone in spite of their faults, but learning to say, I Love You Because.
