About Don't Take My Penny!

Sixteen-year-old Penny is walking around with a book on her head and a dreamy look in her eye and practicing elocution with her mouth full of pebbles, preparing herself to play the star role in the movie version of her favorite novel. The author is searching the country for his ideal—he's coming to her town tomorrow—and Penny just knows she'll be chosen! What Penny doesn't know is that Sally, the family's new maid, is a former child movie star, whom a clever publicity agent has planted in her home to be miraculously "discovered" by the author.  Penny and Joanna have their hands full with preparations ... for Penny intends to take her friend with her to Hollywood . . .  requiring them to give up playing in a tennis tournament with their boyfriends, Greg and Kerry. The boys confer with Gram and decide to outwit Penny and Joanna by posing as the great author and a brunette model. This is a play that has everything - charm, funny incidents, surprise ending and good parts for all. It is no surprise that it was one of the most popular high school plays in the 1940's & 50's.

Fresta Valley Christian School

Fresta Valley’s drama club is open to all students in the seventh through twelfth grades, and uses elementary students depending on the needs of the production.  Its goal is to reclaim the performing arts for God’s glory by staging both secular and religious works with positive themes in an edifying fashion.  Performing popular, well-written, and time-honored pieces gives students the opportunity to exercise their dramatic talents while gaining an appreciation for the creative talents God has given both Christians and non-Christian playwrights and composers.
