A Song for Coretta Cast

Mikayla Guerrier, MPH (Keisha)
Born and raised in Royal Palm Beach, Florida, Mikayla Guerrier graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master's in Public Health from Florida International University and focuses on maternal and child health. Along with academics, Mikayla has been involved in the Arts since she was three years old through dance and music. She attended both Bak Middle School of the Arts and Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts for orchestra as a violinist. While in grade school, Mikayla developed an interest in theater, and during her time in college at the University of South Florida, she participated in several cultural skits and plays, showcasing her Haitian culture through dance and acting. Mikayla has made Actor's Rep her home, as she is studying under Bob Carter, has taken improv classes with Rosalind Neilen and acting classes with Marlo Cohen, and is a core member of one of the Actor's Rep house improv troupes, Attention Deficit Visionaries (ADV). Mikayla made her theater debut during the Actor’s Rep Student Showcase playing the roll of Madame X in The Stronger, has lended her voice to, and stage managed for Down the Road, stage managed for Slow Dance on the Killing Ground, and is now assuming the role of Keisha in A Song for Coretta.
Makeaela Onique Chang (Gwen)
Makaela Onique Chang is an aspiring actress from Brooklyn, New York and is excited to play Gwen in A Song for Coretta. She began studying theater and film acting at the age of ten. Makaela studied character analysis, scene study, monologue performance, and film acting at G- Star School of the Arts and Spanish theater at Pace University in New York City. She is currently in Bob Carter’s Actor’s Workshop class at Actor’s Workshop and Repertory Theatre. While she is not performing, Makaela spends her spare time at home or engaging in physical activity such as jogging. Some of her current interests include listening to Gospel music and learning Spanish and ASL to help her communicate with more people. She hopes to achieve her career goal of becoming a film and television actress. Makaela would like to thank God for helping her in the pursuit of her dream career, her mom for her support, and Bob Carter for casting her in this wonderful production.
Adrienne Waters (Helen Richards)
Adrienne is thrilled to be making her debut at the Actors Repertory Theater in  this  seasons production of A Song for Coretta, where she plays the role of Helen Richards. Adrienne’s acting began  at an early age, appearing in church, and school plays, And now that she’s retired decided to dip her toe into community theater. Pass credits include, Wit, Dixie swim club, Designer Shorts, Much Ado about Nothing, 20th Century Blues as well as working behind-the-scenes. Adrienne would like to thank Bob for her roll, her husband Phil, And her children for all their support always a special thanks to her friend Collette Schweitzer persuading her to take on the challenge.
Julia Harris (Zora Evans)
Julia Harris (Zora Evans) – Julia is an experienced stage and film actor who began her training in 2008. Her first performance at the Lake Worth Playhouse inspired her to further her studies with Actors Rep and at the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. Julia continues to hone her craft as a college graduate and works with Pre-K to 3rd grade students at Palm Beach Day Academy, assisting with the Musical Theatre program. She is grateful to Actors Rep for the countless opportunities they’ve provided, including the Shining Stars summer program she will be teaching this summer. Julia has thoroughly enjoyed working with this cast and extends her heartfelt thanks to Karen Stephens for the invaluable depth she has contributed to the performance.
