One of the oldest Thespian Troupes west of the Mississippi, Leavenworth High School Theatre Troupe 287, can be found in Leavenworth, KS. Leavenworth High School Theatre is proud to be an all-inclusive theatre department focusing on creativity, collaboration, outreach, and building character on and off stage.​


Leavenworth Theatre proudly produces eight productions a year through classes and extracurricular shows. Two productions are created within our Advanced Drama classes. Repertory Theatre class collaborates with the Leavenworth Education Foundation and produces two interactive theatre performances each year in a series known as Feasting With The Foundation. In December, Rep Theatre hosts A Christmas Cabaret and Spring brings theatre into the community with Theatre In The Park. The drama club, Pete's Players, hosts monthly meetings, social events, community service projects, and other exciting opportunities to network and grow such as attending the Kansas Thespian Festival and college auditions.


We are proud recipients of the NBC R.I.S.E. America Grant, Kansas Thespian Gold Honor Troupe status, Starlight Theatre Blue Star Award Recipient for Outstanding Costume Design and Construction, a finalist for Disney's Seize The Day Community Service Challenge, were awarded first place of the 2019 Educational Theatre Association's Theatre in Our Schools Impact Award, and were selected Outstanding School 2019 by the Educational Theatre Association.

Ms. Madison Plouvier, Director of Theater at Leavenworth High School serves on the Board for Kansas Alliance of the Arts in Education, and has training from Kansas State University and Emporia State University, along with working with many different directors and actors professionally. Her directing style and theater philosophy is emphasizing process to get a greater product. This means students should be having fun and enjoying themselves and theater! Along with that, being in educational theater means students grades, mental health, and family relationships are also very important and should be taken care of despite a busy theater schedule! Ms. Plouvier is truly passionate about teaching, students, and theater. It is her dream to make a difference in students lives and build character on and off stage!

Mr. David Brown, Technical Director at Leavenworth High School's training comes from Kansas State University and over 20 years of touring and live event production. He loves solving problems and being creative. One of the things he is most excited about is getting back to creating live magic on stage. His goal is to help students realize that technology And creativity go hand in hand. Mr. Brown is looking forward to working with some great future digital artists!
