Believed to have been first performed in 1611, William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale is a complex story of love, jealousy, redemption and forgiveness. When Leontes, the King of Sicily, suspects his wife of having an affair, he is overcome with jealousy. He takes action that results in the deaths of his wife and son, the estrangement of his best friend, and the loss of his daughter. However, after sixteen years of remorse and atonement, Leontes finds forgiveness, and his family is miraculously reunited.
