About our Director:

Jenny Hobgood began teaching music in 2000. Before joining the fantastic staff at South Granville in the Fall of 2021, she taught general music & chorus at the elementary, middle & high school levels in Durham, Granville, and Wake Counties &, most recently, at Voyager Academy. While at Voyager, her choirs traveled to various competitions both in & out of state & won numerous awards in both show choir & concert choir divisions. Mrs. Hobgood is a Tarheel born & bred, holding a Bachelor of Music Performance degree & a Master of Arts in Teaching from UNC-Chapel Hill.  In her spare time, her greatest joy is spending time with her family (husband Mike & 3 kids: Drew, Ella & Jake). Author Graham Greene once said, “There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets in the future.” Ms. Hobgood feels blessed to have had countless wonderful teachers who opened the door to the world of music for her & made her the music teacher she is today. She hopes to instill that same love of music for the students at South Granville.
