About A Chorus Line
Set during a single Broadway audition, A Chorus Line follows seventeen dancers as they compete for just eight spots in a new show's chorus. Under the probing eye of director Zach, each dancer steps forward to share their story -- how they came to dance, what drives them, and what they're willing to sacrifice for one moment on the line.
Winner of the 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and nine Tony Awards, A Chorus Line is one of the most celebrated musicals in Broadway history. Conceived from real workshops with Broadway dancers, the show captures the vulnerability, resilience, and fierce passion of performers who live to dance. From Cassie, the seasoned star who simply needs the music and the mirror, to the comic Val and the introspective Paul, each character offers a window into the soul of a performer.
With an iconic score including 'What I Did for Love,' 'One,' and 'At the Ballet,' A Chorus Line transformed musical theatre -- celebrating the unsung ensemble members who make every production shine. The original Broadway run lasted 6,137 performances, making it the longest-running show in Broadway history at that time.
