About Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Forty years of "Bueller… Bueller… Bueller…"
Forty years ago this June, Ferris Bueller told the world that life moves pretty fast. It still does. We are bringing this beloved classic back to the big screen to mark the 40th anniversary of one of the most purely enjoyable comedies ever made. If you have seen it a hundred times, you will enjoy it just as much on number one hundred and one.
John Hughes wrote the screenplay in less than a week. Matthew Broderick was 23 years old playing a high school senior. Ben Stein, who delivers the most famous attendance call in movie history, was visiting a friend on set when Hughes heard his voice and offered him the part for $360. Stein reportedly said he would have paid Hughes. The Ferrari was a replica. The parade was real.
Shot almost entirely on location in Chicago, the film made the Art Institute, Wrigley Field, and the Sears Tower into supporting characters. In 2014, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry, deeming it culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant.
Come see it on the big screen, the way it was meant to be seen.
Rated PG-13. 103 minutes.
