The Story Slam is our chance to gather as friends and share true stories from our lives. Simply put, a story slam is a competition based on the art of storytelling. It puts a dual emphasis on content and performance, encouraging storytellers to focus on what they’re saying and how they’re saying it. It is an exercise in crafting stories within a set time limit – and it is great entertainment! Story slammers will tell a 5-minute short story based on the evening’s theme: “Love!”   If you do not like competing you will also have the opportunity to tell a one-minute story while the judges discuss their choices between each story.

Criteria for judging:

. The story has an arc: a beginning, a point of change, and a resolution.
. Presentation of the story.
. Time (no longer than five minutes, but no shorter than four minutes).
. Connection to the theme.

Please remember, the story must be true. The story must be yours, nd you may not use props, notes or a written script. If you know that you would like to tell a story, you can let us know by email at [email protected] up until noon on February 10, 2023, If you are not sure yet, you will have the opportunity to sign up during the event.

The Studio serves as a vital cultural resource for the community: to inspire, enrich, and engage audiences and to develop both the art form and the individual by encouraging full creative expression. 

The Studio is handicapped accessible with plenty of parking.  We are a first floor storefront theater.
