Insect Day is a family-friendly event designed to bring many of Louisiana's top entomologists and insect enthusiasts together to share their knowledge about insects and other arthropods with the public.

Louisiana is home to a surprising array of interesting insects that most people don't ever get to see. These include such seemingly exotic things as: tarantulas, giant centipedes, giant stick insects, scorpions and leaf-cutter ants, that are generally not thought of as something you might come across while on a hike.
