Steel Magnolias Cast

Vanessa Call (Shelby Eatenton)
Experience: I've been on stage or behind a stage or near a stage my entire life. I am very excited to have been a part of the wonderful See How They Run, Nana's Naughty Knickers, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and This Mine is Mine with Sierra Vista Community Theatre. What excites you about theatre? The fun, the ability to BE someone else and give it your all and then some. The laughs for sure. I love what theatre makes me feel and how it gives me the opportunity to make others feel something (if I'm good enough) What does “girl code” mean to you? Uteruses before Duderuses
Sierra Heisner (Shelby Eatenton)
Experience: Acted in every high school production I possibly could on that tiny stage in Kingsville Maryland. Had to join the Sierra Vista Community Theatre to be able to spend time with my Husband, Jeremy Heisner. After taking a year off and begging them on my hands and knees to do Steel Magnolias I figured I could at least audition for it. What excites you about theatre?: Having an extended family when mine is so far away. I have tons of aunties and uncles for my kids. As well as seeing the hard work everyone puts into their character and it becoming an extension of themselves. What does "girl code" mean to you?: Knowing these ladies have my back whenever I need them. These ladies are my biggest hype women. I love them all dearly.
Phyllis Kinlaw  (Truvy Jones)
Experience: Secretary in One Acts: Maddened by Mystery and pianist for Honk: The Musical What excites you about theatre? Escaping reality and becoming someone else legally. I also get to fantasize about winning various awards for acting. . .so refreshing! What does “girl code” mean to you? “Girl Code,” to me, means secret rules between females that are fun to break and gossip about.
Summerlyn Bankel (Annelle Dupuy-Desoto)

Jennifer DeMello (Clairee Belcher)
Experience: This is my fourth exciting adventure with SCVT- I was Cookie Cusack in “Rumors”, Georgia Styles in “Acting Can Be Murder”, and Al in “The Philadelphia”. (Prior to that, no theater but lots of experience as a former educator with talent shows, graduation speeches, presentations, etc.) What excites you about theatre: It’s so amazing to be on the stage and say/do something that causes a reaction from the audience, whether it’s a laugh or a gasp. It’s also incredible to work with other actors to create a performance! What does “girl code” mean: Loyalty….you keep that friend’s secrets, trust them with yours, and be there when they need you.
Eve Cotellessa  (Ouiser Boudreaux )
Experience: Aunt LaMerle in Red Velvet Cake War and Beverly in Three Weddings and an Elvis in Pierre, SD and Vera in She Kills Monsters here in Sierra Vista. What excites you about theatre?: The diversity and commradary among most fellow actors. And being up on stage, of course!! What does "girl code" mean to you?: I never really felt a “girl code” until I joined this theater group. We’ve all got each other’s backs, and the love and support is unparalleled.
Haley Bright  (M'lynn Eatenton)
Experience: I've been a cat, a Cockney guttersnipe, a jilted lover more times than I can count (sometimes with song and dance numbers), a British escort, a British queen, a 1930s starlet, a burnt out social worker, a Christmas ghost, an accidentally drunk Women's Temperance representative, and more. Then I showed up at SVCT, where I'm now doing my fourth show What excites you abt theatre? Getting to tell important stories from inside another life. Acting is the ultimate exercise in empathy, and the visceral experience of being present in the live space of someone's story cant be reproduced the same way through any other medium. What does girl code mean for you? You can't spell extravaganza without vag. I'm just kidding. Respect for the unique challenges women go through means protecting and encouraging all our sisters, knowing when to preserve each other's dignity and when to celebrate with laughter and absurdity. Also chocolate. Always chocolate.
