My love of Ira Levin's "Deathtrap" began with the movie adaptation starring Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve after its release in 1983. I had stayed home from school not feeling well and my mother had set me up on the sofa and a movie channel on our new cable tv. From the beginning notes of Johnny Mandel's fun musical score I was hooked, and would soon watch it over and over again. A few years later I discovered the movie had begun as a very popular play earning four Tony nominations and the unique distinction of becoming the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway. Fast-forward to last year when SRCT was looking for submissions for its next season. I immediately jumped at the chance to suggest it and even better, if I could, I wanted to direct it. I want to thank the SRCT board for having faith in me and allowing me to bring one of my most favorite stories to life on their stage. So, without further ado, sit back, noises off, and enjoy SRCT's production of Ira Levin's "Deathtrap."
