(she/her) is an NYC based performer, director, and dramaturg. Her work is informed by a love for queer/trans performance and aesthetics, physical theatre, and clown. She has performed and had work shown at venues across New York City including Brooklyn Comedy Collective, Brooklyn Art Hause, Pink Metal, Under St Marks in NYC Fringe, and The Brick. *Edlyn Griffin (Mom/ Ivanna )
(he/they) is an actor, singer, and entertainer from St. Louis, Missouri. Having spent the pandemic expanding his talents and interests, he is excited to be embracing the loving arms of theater once again. Through community, charm, and song, Edlyn hopes to do work that leaves the world in a slightly better state than when he found it.
Drew Lono'ehu Tandal (Ukulele Player/Counselor/Blondie/Scott)
is back on the stage with his appearance in "Passing and Failing in Paradise." Drew made his professional debut as a member of the children's chorus that was featured in the Lilo and Stitch movie and soundtrack. He received a Po’okela Award for Lead Male in a Musical for his performance as Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret at Diamond Head Theatre. Drew holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa and is currently studying with Sakile's Actor's Studio. He loves cooking, baking, playing his ‘ukulele for his cats, and swimming at the pool when he's not performing. Drew is grateful to his family and friends for their constant support throughout his professional pursuits and would like to thank Tori for writing this beautiful play.
Harry Phan (Cop/Kyle)
is an Asian American Actor new to living in New York City. He started exploring acting classes in Boston to get over crippling stage fright during work presentations as a Software Engineer. After months of training, that fear turned into a passion for storytelling. In a decade’s long career, he booked roles in short films, plays, a spot for Dunkin Donuts, and eventually a role in a Netflix film, The Sleepover. When he’s not acting, coding, or disappointing his parents, Harry can be found throwing axes, climbing in rock gyms, or working on his Olympic lifts, all to prepare for his future role as a professional assassin on Law & Order, Star Wars, and the MCU.
Parisa Babaee (Wife/Hope/Jess)
(actor, writer, producer) is delighted to be making her debut with Playful Substance. Recent credits include Living the Nightmare with Dir. Joe Leone for The New Play Festival, Susan Sontag Goes On A Date To The Mineshaft with The National Queer Theater, and Evil InSight with Close Encounter Productions. She also recently won the Golden Cookie Award at Borrego Springs Festival and Best Drama at the Edinburgh Film Awards for her short film,The Fairy, which she co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in as the Runaway Bride. Regina Romero (Doctor/Spicer/ DJ LGBTQIA)
(she/her/hers) is an NYC-based actor and writer from Mexico City. She is interested in bringing immigrant Latine stories to the forefront, which can be seen in the recent productions of her written work: Suficiente, La Sombra de Sofía and Erial. Her short film Suficiente won second place at the U.S. Mexico Kaleidoscope Film Festival, and screened at the Georgia and Seattle Latino Film Festivals.
