Resident Artist: Paula Gieseke

This summer, young artists are invited to celebrate creativity and history at the Pennyroyal Arts Council’s Visual Arts Camp, led by resident artist Paula Gieseke. In honor of the upcoming America at 250 milestone, this immersive week of artmaking will explore the artists and movements that helped shape American visual culture.

Campers will take a creative journey through the works of influential American artists, including the bold Pop Art of Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring, the striking realism of Georgia O’Keeffe and Wayne Thiebaud, and the groundbreaking innovation of Jasper Johns. Through hands-on projects and guided instruction, students will experiment with different techniques and styles while developing their own artistic voice. By the end of the week, each camper will create original works inspired by these visionaries and the spirit of American creativity.

Designed for students in grades 1–12, the camp offers two age-based sessions as well as a full-day option:

Session 1: 8:00–11:00 AM | Grades 1–4 | $100

Session 2: 12:00–3:00 PM | Grades 5–8 | $100

Full Day (Both Sessions): 8:00 AM–3:00 PM | Grades 5–8 only | $200

Campers should bring a snack and water bottle for half-day sessions. Full-day campers should bring a snack, water bottle, and lunch.

Through creativity, exploration, and inspiration from some of America’s most iconic artists, this exciting week of camp will encourage young artists to discover their imagination, build confidence, and create their own tribute to the nation’s artistic spirit.

More than 125,000 students have been introduced to the performing arts through school day and in-school performances.
