A true tale of growing up weird in the age of juggernaut film trilogies and what happens if you make a freaky little guy the cornerstone of your personality, Gollum Girl LIVE is a comedic and confessional solo show exploring writer/performer A Yourd’s lifelong passion for The Lord of the Rings, specifically her preteen obsession with the character Gollum. The show features elements of multimedia, monologue, performance art, and a tiny bit of audience interaction. Before Omaha Fringe Festival, Gollum Girl LIVE has been performed at Denver Fringe Festival (June 2026) and as part of Blackout Theatre's The Monologists in Albuquerque, New Mexico (January 2026).

Why did you submit your show to the Omaha Fringe Festival?

After the show's first performance in Albuquerque, New Mexico in January of this year, I submitted the show to several lottery-based fringe festivals across the US in hopes of sharing it with a wider audience. The show was accepted to Denver Fringe, Omaha Fringe, and Indy Fringe in Indianapolis, and I'm happy to be bringing the show to all three. This is my first fringe show and will be my first time visiting Omaha! 

What are you hoping audiences will take away from the performance?

Audiences will learn a lot more about Gollum, probably more than they ever wanted to know. They will also hear about what Tolkien thought about the power of stories and be a little less ashamed of their inner "weird kid". One audience member each performance will take away a carnation and bragging rights as the winner of the "Gollum voice contest".
