About Karma is Burning!

“Karma Is Burning!” premieres at the Omaha Fringe Festival as a cosmic convergence of autobiographical storytelling, queer futurism, lip sync ritual, wheelchair choreography, comedy, and camp spectacle. The atmosphere combusts with glittering instability and theatrical excess. The production operates as a metamorphosis from “Karma Brava,” transforming lived experience into an immersive act of collective witnessing that blurs the boundaries between memory, performance, and public ritual.

Q&A with the Producer

Why did you submit your show to the Omaha Fringe Festival?

I submitted “Karma Is Burning!” to the Omaha Fringe Festival because Fringe champions experimental performance, interdisciplinary risk, and artist-driven spectacle in ways that deeply align with my postmodernist creative practice and queer avant-garde nightlife influences. The project continues mutating through collaborations with the New Works Development for Disabled Artists initiative alongside Common Senses Festival, the Great Plains Theatre Commons, the Risky Disco project, and Rising Voices through Anastasis Theatre Company, a performance initiative centering queer formerly incarcerated voices. Fringe becomes the ignition chamber.

What are you hoping audiences will take away from the performance?

I hope audiences leave interrogating how spectacle, disability, survival, desire, and identity become choreographed through systems of visibility and social performance. The emotional debris keeps expanding long after the lights disappear into darkness and memory. Drawing from “Contemporary Ethnographic Performance Methodologies,” the work uses humor, vulnerability, immersive storytelling, and cabaret aesthetics to invite audiences into a shifting constellation of collective memory, radical presence, and communal witnessing.
