Mary, Queen of Scots Cast

Mary, Queen of Scots (Allison Williams)
is thrilled to take the stage again in such a powerful and dangerous role. She is about to graduate with majors in criminal justice and psychology and a minor in theatre. She will then move to Los Angeles to work towards her doctorate in clinical forensic psychology. As her character struggles with a forming English justice system, she cannot think of a more apt farewell to the Newman Theatre Department. She wishes to thank everyone who has helped her reach this point and she hopes you enjoy this tempestuous show! "No more; farewell, my friends."
Queen Elizabeth, Queen of England (Rebekah Lipinski)
is very excited to be playing the Queen of England in this show. She is graduating this year with a Bachelors in Arts(theatre) and a Bachelors in Business Administration. She has been in many shows including, Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Glass Menagerie, Dog in a Manger, Mamma Mia, Big Fish and several others during her time at Newman. She would like to thank Mark for being an amazing mentor and teacher, and she would like to thank Christy for the same reasons but also for this amazing costume (as always!). Rebekah would like to thank Allison Williams for being her friend off stage and enemy onstage, and the rest of the cast for making this an incredible experience. She would like to thank her family for their constant and unwavering support. Most importantly, she would like to thank her confidante and strength Austin Schwartz, she couldn’t do any of this with out his constant pushing her to do great things, I love you to the moon and back. Enjoy the show, and bend a knee to your “illustrious sovereign,” the one true Queen of England.
Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester (Austin Schwartz)
will be portraying Robert Dudley, the Earl of Leicester in Mary Queen of Scots. This is his fourth year as a performer in the theatre department at Newman. Leicester is an exciting character for Austin to play; the character is cunning and a master of maneuvering politics. Austin is a double major in Theatre and English with a minor in History. Austin has come a long way in his theatre carrier and has a few people he would like to thank. First his mother and father for always being supportive and excited about his next big project. He would also like to thank Rebekah Lipinski, Brenden Schwartz, Dan Knolla, Marie Moore, Mathew Clark, and Allison Williams who he has had the privilege to act with over his four years at Newman University. He feels so blessed to have got to act with them and will miss not being able to share the stage with them next year. "I love you guys, and wish you all the best of luck on the next stage of your lives." He would like to share a special appreciation for getting to perform with his girlfriend, Rebekah Lipinski, over the past few years and thank her for being extra supportive. Austin would also like to specifically acknowledge Brenden Schwartz who he has been acting with longer than anyone since the two began in high school. Lastly, a fun fact is that Allison Williams is the only classmate who has been a part of every production that Austin has been in thus far at Newman University. "May we cherish the last."
Sir Edmund Mortimer (Matthew Clark)
takes on the painful but poignant role of Sir Edmund Mortimer. Being the same age as his character, he hopes to honor Schiller's commentary on age and ambition while warning the audience of the harm that unbridled passion can inflict on others. He is grateful for his fellow performers, his technical and artistic crew, his mentors, his family, his friends, and his muse. As for what the future holds, he is trusting Fate, prepared to go wherever the wind carries him. "Life's just a moment; death, just a moment too."
William Cecil, Lord Burleigh (Brenden Schwartz)
is excited and a little sad to be taking part in his final theater production at Newman. Since his freshman year, he has taken an active part in the theatre program. Brenden has done many plays, a couple of musicals, and co-captains the Sloppy Joe Improv Team. He is grateful to be able to take part in Mary, Queen of Scotts and have one final show with all of his friends. Looking back over the years he realizes how much he’s grown as an actor from when Mark Mannette gave him his first role as Polixenes in William Shakespeare’s Winter’s Tale. He’d like to thank his brother, Austin, for pulling him into the theatre world. He’d like to thank Lucas Farney for being an inspiring leader and friend. His director, professor, friend, and mentor Mark Mannette for always pushing him to be better and coaching him to grow and push himself. His girlfriend Katie for supporting him and helping him learn his lines for the past four years. His parents for always being there to give encouragement and advice. Christy Railsback for her amazing costumes, friendship, and contagious smiles. And lastly, he’d like to thank his friends for bringing so much fun, joy, and memories into these productions.
Hannah Kennedy (Emily Maddux)
is a junior here at Newman University majoring in History with a minor in Theatre. This is her third Newman role: the others including Hermia in last spring's Midsummer Night's Dream and Madame Toureau in this past fall's Murder at the Cafe Noir. She would like to thank her parents and teachers who have encouraged her to achieve more than she ever thought possible. She would also like to thank her friends who have supported her through this production, for she could not have done it without them. She hopes that you will enjoy tonight's performance.
George Talbot, Earl of Shrewbury (Daniel Knolla)
is a Senior majoring in Biochemistry and is in the process of applying to medical school. He's been in a few productions beforehand, such as Dante's Inferno and A Midsummer Night's Dream, Murder at Café Noir and is also a part of Newman's Improv Group, the Sloppy Joes
Sir William Davison (Diego Fietosa)
Sir Amias Paulet (John Suffield)
is a junior at Newman University majoring in Art with a concentration in graphic design. He has appeared in Elf, the Musical and Dante’s Inferno. He is also currently a member of the Sloppy Joes. He would love to thank his parents and loving friends for all their support.
Count Aubespine/Page/Alice (Marie Moore)
is a Senior Biology major returning to the stage—reprising her French accent from her role as Maria LaRue in Newman’s fall production of Murder at Cafe Noir. She is excited to perform in her last production at Newman with all of her best friends. After graduating, she hopes to attend medical school, and she would like to thank all of her friends for encouraging her to get involved in theater, which has greatly influenced her success as a well-rounded student.
Count Bellievre/Margaret Curl (Catherine Madison)
is a sophomore majoring in Early Childhood Unified/Elementary Education minoring in Theatre. Before coming to Newman, Catherine graduated from Immanuel Homeschool. She has acted in multiple shows with a homeschool theatre group called Faith Builders Academy. Her previous roles at Newman University include Hippolyta & Moth in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Betty Rubble & Mary Ann in “Live In Living Color,” and Suzie in “Big Fish.” Besides theatre her passions include gymnastics, cheer, and singing. She looks forward to getting to play Bellievre and Margaret Curl in this magnifique piece.
Officer/Drury/Sheriff (Evert Hastie)
is honored to be in his first ever production. He would like to thank Almighty God, Evert L. Hastie Jr, Austin & Brenden Schwartz, Mark Mannette, and all those who believed in him when he couldn’t believe in myself. He is a Theology major with minors in Choral Music, and Theatre. Ever since 8th grade he has always wanted to be in a play and this is like a dream come true.
O'Kelly/Burgoyn (Tony Ureno)
is currently in his second year as a student at Newman University. He’s an Art major with a focus in graphic design and a minor in business. He’s been in plays such as American Buffalo (as Bobby) and Traveling Backwards (as Peyton). His love of superheroes has him excited to be in anything that requires fight choreography. For all these aspirations, the future holds endless possibilities. He hopes you enjoy the show.
Melvil (Fr. Adam Grelinger)
Untrained, Fr. Adam Grelinger hasn’t played a role since Kid #5 in 6th grade. His sister played the Phantom of the Opera obsessively during his high school years and he’s seen Hamlet on Disney+. Fr. Adam enjoys indulging himself in terrible accents and tries earnestly to maintain a poker face in front of a crowd. He is grateful to Director Mannette who discovered his talent at a Shakespeare reading. Fr. Adam loves God, mom, dad, all who came to watch great actors act around him, and being Newman’s chaplain.
Understudy (Daniel Cubias-Arteaga)
