About Almost, Maine by John Cariani

Welcome to Almost, Maine, a town that's so far north, it's almost not in the United States—it's almost in Canada. And it almost doesn't exist. Because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it's just…Almost. One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost's residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same.

Whether you want to pursue a career in the arts or just enjoy them, the SCF Theatre Program has a place for you! With auditions open to all, there are many benefits to joining the program.

State College of Florida has had an active, vibrant theatre program since 1965. Students have opportunities in both performance and technical areas of theatre. Both students planning a career in theatre or who simply enjoy theatre are welcome and encouraged to participate as are community members. With auditions open to everyone, SCF is the region’s resource for theatre education and community enrichment.

Four productions take place annually, including comedies, dramas, mysteries and more. All shows take place in the David S. & Anne V. Howard Studio Theatre located at SCF Bradenton. Staged by professional directors, who also serve as full-time and adjunct faculty, students benefit from learning and performing in a state-of-the-art venue.
