About Hairspray

The 1950s are out, and change is in the air! Hairspray, winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family-friendly musical, piled bouffant-high with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.

It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network... all without denting her 'do!

Monsignor Pace High School Drama Club

For over 20 years, The Drama Program at Monsignor Pace High School (Pace Drama) has fostered opportunity for our students to explore their passion for theatre. From The Great Gatsby to Clue - Guys & Dolls to Hairspray - and everything in between, our productions are completely student-centered - meaning that not only are we focused with creating a space for students to make the most of their high school experience, but also to nurture and challenge their talents, expose and help them develop new, valuable, and unique skill sets, and allow students hands on experience to be able to apply those practices. In other words, while our students are multi-talented, our productions are completely student run, on and off the stage. Pace Drama values hard work, family, and love for the performing arts and throughout our history of show-stopping performances, we aspire to live up to those values while creating memories our students will cherish long after their high school years.
