About Heritage Series Honoring Susie & Sam Macfarlane

Maryland Opera celebrates the contributions of Susie & Sam Macfarlane whose generous support has made opera possible in Maryland.  The concert features three internationally renowned singers accompanied by chamber orchestra led by Artistic Director James Harp in dramatic arias and scenes from the operatic canon.

Sam Macfarlane was a Trustee and Treasurer of the Board of the Baltimore Opera Company for many years and his wife Susie was a devoted patron and supporter.  Susie Macfarlane is the originator of the Opera Bears that are still favorites in Baltimore after they made their debut at Baltimore Opera in the late 1990s.
