We are honored to be among the first high schools in the world to produce Hadestown: Teen Edition. Anaïs Mitchell wrote and composed this beautiful retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, which won 8 Tony Awards in 2019, including Best Musical and Best Original Score. The New York Times called it “gorgeous” and “hypnotic,” while The Hollywood Reporter deemed it “utterly fabulous.”

In Mitchell's adaptation, Eurydice is a poverty-stricken young woman who takes work in the hellish industrial center of Hadestown, trying to escape hunger and cold. Her poor young lover, Orpheus, travels through darkness and danger to bring her back to the world of warmth and nature.
