About "it's a Wonderful Life, a Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry

Travel back to the 1940s for “It’s a Wonderful Life, a Live Radio Play”

Herstory Theater is delighted to present what’s become a holiday tradition,

“It’s a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry,

It's Christmas Eve, 1946, in the broadcast studio at WBFR, Manhattan and you're all invited to be part of the studio audience!

"It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" by Joe Landry is based on the classic holiday movie with a clever twist thrown in: the story is staged as a live radio broadcast, complete with live Foley artist and commercial jingles.

When the film "It's A Wonderful Life" was released in 1946, it was not an immediate popular or financial success, but its reputation grew over the years, and a clerical error resulting in the loss of copyright protection resulted in it being shown widely during the Christmas season every year. It has become a phenomenon, and many don't feel that their holiday season is complete without watching it.

Meet George Bailey, Zuzu, Clarence the Angel, grumpy old Mr. Potter and all the other beloved characters from Bedford falls, and relive the story of a man who gets to see what life would have been like if he had never been born. George Bailey, a generous and well-meaning man who has become too downcast to continue living, will need help from a lovable angel to have a change of heart and understand the true spirit of the holidays.

The Connecticut cast and crew include: Bill Arnold of East Windsor, Chris Berrien of East Granby, Joan Brown of Farmington, Chris Bushey of Bloomfield, Marisa DiGiacomo of Kensington,, Steve O’Brien of Simsbury, Jomarie Pipolo of West Hartford, Virginia Wolf of Farmington

The performance is 90 minutes with no intermission, and is produced by special arrangement by Playscripts, Inc (www.playscripts.com)
