Arsenic & Old Lace Cast

Guy Ben-Moshe (Rooney)
Guy is happy to return to the GBT stage, last performing in the 2011 First Annual Vaudeville Show. Since getting involved with community theater in 2009, Guy has been in 27 productions...but, who’s counting? A couple of his favorite roles were the Blind Hermit (Young Frankenstein--Wimberley Players) and Mr. Mushnik (Little Shop Of Horrors--New Braunfels Theater Company). Guy credits his high school Drama Club teacher, Mr. Larry Fineman, for instilling in him a love of theater--proof that teachers DO make a difference in our lives. He thanks his wife Teresa for always helping run lines and their dogs, Gigi and Bertie, for not chewing his script.
Stephen Cruser (Jonathan)
Cruser is excited to be back at the GBT stage. You might remember him as the Way-Too-Handsome Richard Hannay (The 39 Steps), or the Looks-Good-Even-in-Black-and-White Charles Condomine (Blithe Spirit). This is, admittedly, his first role where he is supposed to be less than dashing, which is the hardest part of tackling this character. But he's excited to channel his inner Dexter and join the pantheon of murderers who have graced the GBT stage, including his amazing wife Cynthia. Till death do us part indeed!
Dylan Droz (Mortimer)
A performer of the stage and screen for over a decade, Dylan is proud to be back at the Gaslight Baker after a year away from theatre! As a graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor’s in Fine arts, Dylan was last on this same stage as Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, as Malcolm in Macbeth, and Lysander in Inspired Mind’s production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. He would like to thank his family and friends for always supporting his acting endeavors.
Jamias Hughes (Gibbs)
Jamias is currently a freshman studying theatre at Texas State University. While at Lockhart High School, he performed in various productions from dramas, musicals, and award-winning UIL shows--winning the Heller Award for Young Artists his senior year. Arsenic bumps his number of GBT performances to six, including Annie Get Your Gun, The Gift of the Magi, and the Christmas Radio Show. He enjoys theatre but hates In & Out. If you’ve eaten there, shame on you. Kidding. Mostly.
Ben Kercheval (O'Hara)
Ben is thrilled to make his theatrical debut in Lockhart after previously appearing in Prelude to a Kiss and Treasure Island last year, both at Bastrop Opera House. Thank you to Jason and everyone at the GBT for the opportunity to play pretend in one of the funniest plays ever written. Special thanks to Peaches Latour and everyone in Sioux City, Iowa. Enjoy the show!
Judith Laird (Martha)
Judith is delighted to once again play on the GBT stage, this time as the “sweet and elderly” Martha (only one adjective applies ;-). Other favorite roles include the irascible Ouiser in Steel Magnolias (recently performed at Bastrop Opera House and Austin City Theatre), as well as character “A” in Three Tall Women (nominated for the Iden B. Payne Best Actor award). With her PhD in English, she taught for umpteen years at ACC before retiring in 2018.
Taylor Lueckenotte (Teddy)
Taylor is so excited to be back on the Gaslight stage working with such a talented cast! Highlights from past roles include Something Rotten! (Nigel), Shakespeare in Love (Shakespeare), Elf the Musical (Buddy), Godspell (Telly), Next to Normal (Gabe), and Somewhere (Corin).
Xavier Marrero (Brophy)
Xavier is excited and honored to be a part of the Arsenic and Old Lace cast. As a transplant from Bell County, this U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and his family decided to plant roots in Lockhart in late 2022. Playing as Officer Brophy, this is will be Xavier’s theatrical debut.
George O'Connor (Harper)
George is not a newcomer to theater, with this being his 3rd appearance in a production of Arsenic and Old Lace (previously playing Dr. Einstein and Lt. Rooney). As a BFA graduate of UT Austin in Drama, George has been active in directing, design, and set construction in theaters across Texas. He has also found work in film and television productions, most recently in several 1923 season 2 episodes. Some of his more memorable acting roles are Rick Steadman (The Nerd-Waco Civic Theater), Charlie Baker (The Foreigner-Midland Community Theatre), and Mr. Roat (Wait Until Dark-Permian Playhouse in Odessa). He was last seen in the GBT's Pride and Prejudice (Mr. Bennet).
Debbie O'Neill (Abby)
A classically trained pianist and vocalist from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Debbie earned degrees from Ithaca College, the Neighborhood Playhouse in NYC, and Towson University. As a seasoned cabaret and jazz singer, Debbie performed with many Duke Ellington musicians and has taught at private schools for 30 years. Recently she made her comeback, performing two sold out cabaret events at the Onion Creek Golf Club. Debbie maintains a private music studio in Austin. Theatre-wise, Debbie has directed over 70 musicals (schools and community theatres) and performed in dozens more from Iceland to California. Some of her favorite roles have been You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown (Lucy), Cabaret (Sally Bowles), and tap dancing in Dames at Sea (Joan). Last GBT season, Debbie performed in Company (Joanne) and played keyboard for Something Rotten!. Debbie is thrilled to be in Arsenic and Old Lace and act her age again.
Samantha Plumb (Elaine)
Samantha is an Austin based actress, and she is excited to be returning to the GBT Stage. She has most recently been seen in The Winter's Tale (Hermione) at Trinity Street Playhouse, in Hearts Like Fists (Lisa), and also previously seen on the GBT stage as Elizabeth in Frankenstein. Thank you to the cast and crew for all their hard work and dedication to such a classic production.
Luis Rodriguez-Alegria (Einstein)
Luis is very excited to be part of this production. There is nothing that brings him more joy than to be part of a group of people that tell stories. Other previous roles include Murder on the Orient Express (Bouc); Almost, Maine (Pete); Who’s in Bed With the Butler (Susie); Somewhere (Chorus); and Frankenstein (Klaus and the Constable). Thank you to his husband, Will, for all the love and support! Enjoy the show!
Chris Schaible (Witherspoon)
Chris is glad to be performing in this fun and whimsical play at the Gaslight Baker Theater. Chris has recently appeared as Robin in Something Rotten!, in addition to appearing in Company; Annie Get Your Gun; Godspell; DoubleWide, Texas; Varney; Suite Surrender; plus a few more. When not performing, Chris enjoys going on hikes with his dogs Bree, Arya, and Caelan, along with competing in Canine Agility with Bree. He would like to thank his wife, Sondra, for all the love and support she has given him.
