About Midsummer High School
While Midsummer High School is preparing for their Centennial Celebration, magic, mayhem, and mischief are afoot. There is drama between the homecoming court when young love is put to the test as it faces magical love triangle after love triangle. The drama club is trying desperately to get ready fort their performance, but they cannot locate their lead actor. The basketball coach and cheer coach are fighting. And someone is stuck in the donkey mascot head. Will they be able to get it together in time for the celebration, or will this be a disaster 100 years in the making? Based on Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream, this play keeps all the laughs of the classic comedy, but puts it in a modern world.
Empire Theatre Department
Empire Theatre is an award winning theatre department. Over the past 15 years, Empire has earned countless awards at regional, state, and national competitions. The theatre department has won state championships for One-acts and Mainstage shows (Including state One-Act Championships in 2022 & 2024), and in 2017 & 2019, they were named the #1 high school theatre department in Southern AZ. In 2021 they received the Governor's proclamation for Theatre in our Schools. And in 2022, their musical, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown was selected as “Best Musical of Tucson”. Empire Theatre was also the first school to offer dual-enrollment with Pima Community College for their advanced drama class.
The theatre department is made up of a variety of acting and technical theatre classes. Midsummer High School will feature the talents of students from the advanced drama class which is made up of Drama 3 and THE 125 students.
