About Assembly:Required

Assembly:Required is an immersive, site-specific dance event that takes the audience on a journey through the Goodyear Art Building. Echoes of the building’s past as a women’s shoe factory mingle with the current buzz of a thriving studio art facility. Choreographers Matt Reeves and Colette Krogol  of Orange Grove Dance and Lecturer in Dance Erin Crawl-Woods weave dynamic movement through the architecture of the space as it pulsates with a new original musical score by composer Dylan Glatthorn.  Designed by Professor Kent Barrett and Juli Bounds and performed by the daring students of Dance Theatre Group, Assembly:Required is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between the Department of Theatre + Dance and the Studio Art Program.

Please note:  This is a standing performance. There are two flights of stairs to access the performance. Bathroom access is limited. Please see campus map here. The performance will be in Goodyear (#64 on map). There's street parking and limited parking behind the building - however we would advise you park next to Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium (#19 on map) and walk the 1.5 blocks to Goodyear.

Dickinson College Theatre and Dance Department

The Dickinson College Department of Theatre and Dance serves a diverse group of students who crave exploring art and art-making through the path of their choice. Many students thrive in an environment of formal coursework and practice. Others seek a broad liberal arts education which integrates live performance and civic engagement. Many students will even aspire to define themselves as emerging professional theatre artists.

Within the department, students study a rich and broad mix of classes including studio and academic coursework. These classes are led by educators who combine strong teaching with significant professional experience. They prioritize collaboration with students in their professional work both on and off campus and they value successes and failures at all stages of the process and curriculum.

We offer a major in Theatre Arts with specialized tracks including acting/directing, dance, dramatic literature, and design/technical theatre. Our season offers many opportunities for both mainstage faculty directed, and student directed productions. Many students involved in our programs are majors or minors, however others are from any number of other majors who are drawn to the energy, teamwork and artistry of live performance.
