The New World Symphony is one of the happiest pieces of music ever written on these shores. Dvorak loved the United States and also planned to write an opera titled Hiawatha. This was never completed but the intensely beautiful melodies in the middle of this work, very likely started as the idyllic love themes for Minnehaha and Hiawatha.  In keeping with our New World theme, we will include American Salute, a wonderful patriotic panache by Morton Gould.  Top performers from our Young Artists Competition will bring us movements from Jaëll's Cello Concerto and Beethoven's powerful Third Piano Concerto.
