Technical Director
David HartleyI was Born and raised in Las Vegas NV. The Live Entertainment Capital of the World
I started in the Theater in my 10 th grade year by acting in the Miracle Worker.
I realized that I liked all the things backstage better. I worked as a student stagehand for the school
district while going to high school and also singed up for the IATSE #720 stagehands union in July of
1977. I am now a Retired member of that same union, 45 plus years. I have joined many others #112,
#97, PGA, DGA, During my Career. I was Lucky to be in the right place at the right time. While finishing
High school I worked 2 shows a night at the Stardust Hotel and Casino, I continued to work there while
starting Collage at U.N.L.V.
And worked alongside my Collage Theater Professor for another 2 years. So that’s 2 shows a night 6
Days a week for 45 weeks a year for three years. That’s 1500 shows In Three years the Same show.
During that time, I got my first professional Design job doing the lights for The Hudson Brothers, after
that I designed lighting for Robert Morse in “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying” at the
only Equity Theater in Las Vegas. Next, I Designed the Set for The Connie Stevens Show at the Aladdin
Theater, Then a really cool set for the “Penthouse Pet Revue”, at The Marina Hotel and Casino it ran for
almost 3 years. After that I started working at the Las Vegas Hilton for the next 4 years that was in 1980.
Over the next 4 years I would take time off From the Hilton to work for lots of other Stars, Television
Shows, Concert Tours, and also worked “Let’s Make a Deal” in Las Vegas that was Filmed at the LV
Hilton. While at LV Hilton I did 2 shows per night 6 days a week 48 weeks a year. The Last paragraph
represents 7 years of my Life it only got busier from then on! I was lucky to have found a Career that I
really love and that has given me so many Friends and Opportunity’s in Life. I was taught The Show is the
It! The Show must go on! Its all about the Show!
We are there to Support the Dramatic Illusion!
