About True Florida Tales

Billy Merritt will lead this evening with comedic improvisation based on fascinating stories about the weird but true world of Florida.  No show from our True Florida Tales will be the same!  Each show will have a guest story teller for the first act.  Our second act will be the laughter filled improv from the stories.  Audience members can participate when asked for suggestions based on the stories.  You will be intrigued and definitely LOL.

When: Friday 8:00 (show runs 1.5 hours with 15 minute intermission).  DOORS OPEN AT 7:30

Billy Merritt’s been performing and teaching at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since its inception. Co-founding legendary Improv groups The Swarm and The Stepfathers in New York, and The Smokes in Los Angeles. He has developed multiple improvised Longfoms such as The Documentary, One Act Play, and the Road Trip. 

Billy got his TV start on UCB’s Comedy Central show, that lead to multiple appearances on Late Night With Conan O’Brien, MTV’s Boiling Points, VH1’s Best Week Ever. Since moving to LA he’s appeared on great shows such as Reno 911, Happy Endings, Weeds, Parks and Rec and Brooklyn Nine Nine to name a few. Billy’s voice is heard on many commercials and cartoons, he’s the voice of Fryman from Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe, and host of Jameson’s Radio Network. Billy is a native Floridian and proudly maintains a Florida Man lifestyle.
