When Ethel Savage inherits her late husband's fortune, her plans to start a "happiness fund" for strangers distresses her three grown-up children. It is only after they have her committed to The Cloisters sanatorium that they discover she has hidden the money, and become willing to look anywhere to find it.  Ethel finds herself part of the Cloister family of patients, a gentle and eccentric group, and with their help tests her children's greedy nature. Will the money ever be found?
