About

Based on the hit film, a flamboyant soul diva named Deloris Van Cartier, after witnessing a murder, is placed in protective custody at a convent. Disguised as a nun, she uses her singing talent to revitalize the choir, clashing with the strict Mother Superior while trying to keep her cover from being blown by the gangsters chasing her. Celebrating the power of sisterhood and featuring a vibrant score with pop, soul, and gospel influences, this uplifting musical was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
