Welcome to NEM TheatRE!

The Northeast Magnet Theater Department is a family of actors, performers, designers, builders, musicians and technicians who love bringing theater to life.

Our students learn the ins and outs of theater through classes in introductory drama, advanced acting, stagecraft and repertory theater. They take on leadership roles on stage, in tech crews, as stage managers and as student directors.

The 2021-2022 school year expanded NEM's horizons, with fall musical “Bonnie & Clyde” being selected as the finale performance for the Kansas Thespian Conference in January. This was a first-time opportunity for our students to take their show on the road – packing, moving and resetting the entire show at Century II's Concert Hall and performing in front of more than 1,000 of their peers.

NEM Theater is a place for all students to be themselves, be brave, be creative, make friends, gain life skills and be part of a thriving family.

Students set up lights and make props during a workday for “She Kills Monsters.”
