Founder Chelsey Hanel fell in love with theatre at a young age when her parents afforded her the opportunity to participate in a local summer theatre camp.  She grew up participating in many productions and in college became the theatre board's president where she was able to fulfill many backstage roles including producing, directing and crew.  

Chelsey graduated from college and became an elementary school teacher where she began directing the small school's musicals.  After filling that role for years and coaching private vocal students auditioning for local productions, she found there was no place for kids to really learn about theatre and all its innards.  

Melody Musical Theatre Group was born in the summer of 2017 with their first summer production, Alice @ Wonderland.  With a tiny cast of 13 and almost no resources it was challenging and amazing.  Melody Musical has gone on to produce Annie Jr. and now, Into the Woods Jr., doubling our cast and multiplying our production crew and volunteers.  We look forward to providing more theatre opportunities and eventually growing into our own space!
