Do you want to be involved in Theatre at Churchill County High School? There are 3 ways to get involved:

Our classes:

While our productions provide opportunities to be on- or back-stage, our theater courses is where the real learning happens. In each of these classes you'll learn skills you need to be an independent, outstanding actor or technician.

Interested in acting? Take Theatre 1 You’ll learn how to create a story and make choices to tell your story with different acting techniques and tools. Then you can go on to Theatre 2, 3, and 4 where you will learn to use different acting methods and perform a class-play for an audience.
Interested in musical theatre? Take Musical Theatre 1 where you’ll learn skills in acting, singing, and dance and perform in the Broadway Revue at the end of the school year. Then you can take Advanced Musical Theater.
Interested in trying theatre out? Take Improv class where you learn and practice the skills of Improvisational Theatre. We perform an Improv Festival at the end of the semester for our friends and families.
Do you like theatre but you don’t want to be on stage? Join our Theatre Technologies class! This is a CTE course and you can earn College Credit if you take all 3 Theatre Technologies courses and pass the exam.
Do you like to watch movies and learn trivia and analyze the acting and how the film was produced? Take Film Studies! We watch several films throughout the semester and learn how it was made, discuss the acting, and how it was adapted from the source material. You do a bit of writing in this class too!

All of these courses will run based on student numbers. We offer them when there are more than 15 students signed up.

As you participate in our Productions you earn Thespian Points which qualify you to become a member of the International Thespian Society. We participate in the following Thespians Events:

Field Trips

We also believe that seeing live theatre is one of the best ways to improve our own work, so we go on the following field trips:

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival: In the spring we go to Ashland, Oregon and participate as an audience and students in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. This is one of the best Shakespeare Festivals in the nation and we're so lucky we are so close and can attend.
The Pioneer Center: We attend Load-Ins and Talk-Backs of the touring Broadway productions hosted by the Pioneer Center. We try to see these productions afterwards depending on ticket availability.
