About bhs drama program

The Burlington High School Drama Program has been bringing quality theatre to the community of Burlington for over 90 years. The program is aimed at providing BHS students with free, school-supported theatrical opportunities. In the BHS Drama Club, students are loved and welcomed for who they are, as represented by the program's Mission Statement.
Currently, BHS Drama rehearses out of downtown BHS, located on Cherry St. in Burlington, VT. Performances are held at the Hunt Middle School Auditorium. Despite the hardships presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and the lack of a “home” performance space, BHS Drama remains dedicated to providing students the opportunities for artistic development that they deserve.
Our program consists of three seasons each year: the Fall Musical, the Winter One-Acts, and the Spring Play.
Fall Musical: A full-fledged musical production, beginning at the start of the school year and ending in November. All students who audition are guaranteed a part.
Winter One-Acts: A festival of assorted one-act plays, many of which are written and/or directed by BHS students. Begins in early December and ends in February. All students who audition are guaranteed a part.
Spring Play: A non-musical play in 2-3 acts, ranging from classical (Shakespeare, O'Neill, Ibsen, etc.) to contemporary (Kushner, Pinter, Nottage, Guirgis, etc.). Begins in March and ends in May. Students are not guaranteed a part, but there are other ways to be involved!
