Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (BTWHSPVA) the award-winning arts magnet school in the Dallas Independent School District (DISD). Located in the heart of downtown Dallas's Arts District, Booker T. is a designated landmark, reaching its Centennial year in 2022. Since its inception, the school has continued to exemplify excellence, garnering many awards and graduating outstanding alums, including 29 Presidential Scholars, the Texas Medal of Arts award from the Texas Cultural Trust, and earned the distinction for Exemplary Arts Education from the Rockefeller Foundation.

A century of history illuminates the school, inspiring the next generation of artists to excel. With the exemplary academic curriculum and rigorous conservatory training, Booker T.'s scholar artists succeed in college and artistic careers. The school’s dual emphasis on arts and academics consistently produces a stellar list of graduates. Among those are Grammy winners such as R&B vocalist Erykah Badu, jazz singer Norah Jones, the late jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove, members of the gospel group God’s Property, and Brave Combo. Other notable alums include dancer Jay Franke, Philadelphia Orchestra cellist John Koen, visual artists Christian Schumann and Chris Arnold, drummer Aaron Comess, and Edie Brickell of the New Bohemians. With a school as vibrant and diverse as Booker T., it's no wonder that the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is one of the largest advocacy organizations in Dallas, with over 1,000 members to date. The PTSA supports the legendary schoolwide cross-conservatory productions annually including the All School Musical, Hispanic Heritage Production, African American Heritage Production and Creations.
