About Developing Actors Theatre Technician Summer Program

The Developing Actors Theatre Technician Summer Program will be a group of students who will act as the stage crew for the summer productions of “Spongebob The Musical: Youth Edition” and “Go Fish”. The stage crew of the summer productions will meet once a week during the month of June. Students will meet to  learn the basics of the creative and technical departments and learn what happens “behind the scenes” of any theatre production. As well as help build set pieces, collect props for the Developing Actors summer program. During the tech week, students will meet with the Stage Manager of the shows and act as the shows crew. 


Ages: 6th Grade- Freshman
Length: May 30th- June 24th 
The last Tuesday of May and Every Tuesday in the month of June. 
Everyday June 18th- 24th- Tech Week they will meet daily and be the stage crew for both developing actors' productions. 
Participants must participate in one set construction and prop development day. Either June 9th or June 16th. 

Price: $150 per student (Non Member) 
$125 per student (Member)

Week of June 18th, 2023-June 24, 2023

Tech Week- DATT participants will be present on Tech Sunday to assist the production staff with duties to prepare for tech week. During the week of Tech Week, DATT participants will be present and acting as the stage crew for all dress rehearsals and productions.

Overall Goals and Objectives of Program: 
Students will develop production skills and be able to meet the following objectives:

  • Students will demonstrate their understanding of the Theatre world and the roles within the theatre world
  • Students will demonstrate their understanding of stage management by performing specific stage management  duties.
  • Students will demonstrate their understanding of technical theatre in the areas of: Lighting, Sound, Props, Publicity, Costumes.
  • Students will demonstrate their understanding of stage equipment and other related technical theatre terminology
  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of the elements of technical theatre design

Spotlight Arts Collective Developing Artist program provides aspiring actors and actresses interactive educational and live theatre experiences through a wide array of performing and fine arts events. Our mission is to ignite passion in developing actors by providing safe, secure, and highly professional theater experiences that increase creativity, build self esteem, enhance collaborative skills, and nourish imagination on and off the stage. The creative endeavors of Spotlight continue to raise money for charities, scholarships, and other philanthropic pursuits in the community.
