Director
Kathy Newman
Professor Newman earned her MFA in performance at the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a specialist in the Meisner Technique of acting and is training for certification at the mastery level. She has directed over 30 shows including Agnes of God, Guys and Dolls, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Wedding Singer, No Exit, Curtains, Rebecca, Picture of Dorian Gray, Much Ado About Nothing, Into the Woods and Big Love. She is a professional actress with memberships in SAG/AFTRA. Kathy worked in NYC for over two decades where her credits include stage, television, film and national commercial work. While in NYC she studied at the prestigious Actor’s Studio. Currently she serves as Assistant Professor of Acting and Directing here at Mississippi University for Women and continues her professional acting coaching Her most recent acting projects include, “The Devil Tree: (dual roles of Sumpter and Lucille), The Exonerated (Sonja Jacobs) and the short film “Unseen Abilities (Aunt Sue).
Scene & Lighting Designer
David Carter
Professor Carter is Chair of the Department of Theatre at the Mississippi University for Women. He holds a BA in Theatre from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and an MFA in Scene Design from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Professionally, David has worked as a Scene and Lighting designer for a number of professional companies including New Stage in Jackson MS, Mill Mountain Playhouse in Roanoke VA, and Lees-McCrae Summer Theatre in Banner Elk NC. Professional design credits include SHREK!, Sister Act, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, The Robber Bridegroom, Ragtime, CATS! Boeing Boeing, A Christmas Carol, Doubt, Guys & Dolls, Showboat and Singin’ in the Rain. One of David’s proudest accomplishments is his role in creating the MFA in Theatre education program, the first of its kind in the country.
Stage Manager
Jordan Rauhoff
Jordan is an art enthusiast and Columbus native. Their credits include stage managing Death of a Streetcar Named Virginia Woolf, No Exit, and Orpheus Descending. As well as working as a props artisan on I Hate Shakespeare, She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms, and School House Rock Live!
Assistant Stage Manager
Paige Bivens
Paige is an EMCC graduate transfer, majoring in Theatre at MUW. This is Paige’s first production at the W. She is a Charter Member of the New Hope Middle School’s Encore Show Choir, with whom she competed for three years. She then advanced to the New Hope High School’s Take One Show choir, competing for four years. While at New Hope, Paige was active in the Drama program for a semester her freshman year, acting in the semester production. From the age of 5, she participated in Fairview Baptist Church’s annual Easter production of Living Pictures. All of her experiences have fueled her desire to pursue a degree in Theatre and she is excited to do so at MUW.
